English: From "buckwheat", a kind of noodle dough.

Japanese: Comes from uchitate, ‘freshly kneaded’ and the verb susuru, ‘slurp’.

Background: Bucky is the fourth generation of the Whet family of soba noodle bakers. His father recently passed away, and left the deed to the store in the care of rakugo master Taifu Toneido rather than pass it directly to Bucky. Nonetheless, Bucky's been working tirelessly to keep the shop afloat.
