Tahrust Inmee / Malmel Aatam

マルメル・アータム

Age: 42
Gender: Male
Occupation: Priest

A Khura'inese monk who has been assisting Maya with her training. Victim of AA6-3.

Personality: Tahrust was a pious man and dedicated to his work, but he also loved his wife and friends fiercely. Though he was kind and formal to most, he would respond to a challenge pound for pound.

Misc Facts: The mark on Tahrust's forehead was given to him as part of his training to become a monk. No other monk has the same mark.

Despite his bone-china pate of a head (as Kristoph might put it), Tahrust seems to have a fondness for long hair.

Friends and Family: Husband of Beh'leeb Inmee and father to their unborn child. Mentor and caretaker of Puhray Zeh'lot, and host and advisor to Maya Fey. Good friend of the Khura'inese judge.

Name Origin:
English: "Tahrust Inmee" = "Trust in me".

Japanese: From "marumeru", "to make bald", and from "atama", "head".

Background: Tahrust was a well-established priest in the Khura'inese religion, overseeing rituals and training new monks and casual devotees alike. One of his brightest pupils was the monk Zeh'lot Mainiche, who he discovered destitute on the streets two years ago and took in. Every year he and his wife Beh'leeb took part in a ceremony celebrating Khura'in's avian princess, but as Beh'leeb was pregnant this year, he opted to have Maya take her place.

Spoiler: AA6-3
Tahrust is actually a member of Khura'in's revolutionary forces, as is Beh'leeb. Together the two of them oversaw a hideout for the revolutionaries at a local mountain shrine, and used the equipment there to marshal their comrades. Shortly before AA6-3, Tahrust and Beh'leeb were preparing to help revolutionary Datz Are'bal escape from the prison atop the mountain, but Zeh'lot - actually a member of Inga's secret police watching for revolutionary activity - suspected them and sent a threat to the pair. The day before the ritual, Zeh'lot trailed Beh'leeb to the hideout and she killed him in self-defense after he attacked her. Tahrust knew that since no attorneys would take Beh'leeb's case (lest they be found equally guilty of at best manslaughter and at worst treason), he decided to hide Zeh'lot's death and protect Beh'leeb, no matter if it cost him his own life.
