Eighteen years ago, Otome was the coroner meant to examine the body of Isaku Hyoudou during the IS-7 case. When the body went missing, Karma and Bansai pressured her into writing up a false autopsy to cover for the fact that the police could not find the body. For years Bansai held this fact over her.

Twelve years ago, Tsubasa was involved with investigative reporter Ryuuji Kamei, up until he was killed for witnessing the assassination of Teikun Ou. For years afterwards Tsubasa tried to learn the truth behind his death, and was eventually informed that it was Bansai who had taken Ryuuji's life (informed by Souta, even). She infiltrated his secret auction in hopes of killing him and getting her revenge, but Souta had also warned Bansai of her coming, and he was ready with a murder plot of his own.
