Name Origin:
English: "Ga'ran" is a Buddhist temple. "Sigatar" may come from "shi kataru", "death speaks".

Background: Ga'ran has been the queen of Khura'in for 23 years, ever since her older sister Amara was assassinated. In the aftermath Ga'ran ascended the throne and married Inga Karkhuul; over the next few years she phased in the Defense Culpability Act, which declared attorneys would receive the same sentence as their clients. She now has absolute power within the country.

Spoiler: AA6-5
In fact, Ga'ran was the one who 'assassinated' Amara. The truth is, Ga'ran never had any spirit channeling power, which meant it was impossible for her to ever ascend the throne. She decided to fake Amara's death and frame Amara's husband Dhurke, so she lured Dhurke away and set their quarters ablaze. Then she entered with the intent of rescuing Amara, only to encounter musician Jove Justice, who happened to be staying the night with his son Apollo. She killed Jove, took Amara away, and then had Dhurke arrested. In the aftermath she convinced Amara to live in the palace in secret lest Dhurke and the rebels try to kill her again; in exchange, Amara would perform any spirit channelings in Ga'ran's place (the two looked alike enough that they could easily swap places.)

About eight years after that, Dhurke rescued Amara and the two lived together a while. But Ga'ran tracked them down and kidnapped back Amara as well as her infant daughter Rayfa. She used Rayfa's life to keep Amara in check and took Rayfa in as her own daughter. When Amara's son Nahyuta tried to infiltrate the legal system she blackmailed him as well.

However, her husband Inga coveted the throne for himself and began amassing power so that he could stage a coup. Ga'ran decided it was time to get rid of both him and Dhurke, and began making plans...
